9:10 – 9:30am:                    Recognizing and Managing HR risks: from the danger zone to the value zone
Today, high-performing organizations are taking a more holistic approach to risk management. They are not only focus on those areas that may be “broken” or “misaligned” but creatively assessing areas that could significantly impact organization’s ability to success, including Human Resources (HR) risks. HR risks are the challenges and opportunities inherent in managing an organization’s people, programs and processes, both inside and outside the walls of the business. By anticipating and proactively addressing these issues, executives can create significant, sustainable business results. Failure to manage HR risks properly, on the other hand, can leave a company open to significant financial and reputational consequences, in addition to hindering performance improvement efforts.

The average person performs at only 50% of his or her capacity. The goal of the manager is to unlock that additional 50% of potential and channel it into getting greater results. Your job as a manager requires that you motivate and inspire your people to perform at the highest possible levels. Good managers are cheerleaders. They make their people feel terrific about themselves, feel like winners and get the strong connection to organization. By motivating people continuously and correctly you can dramatically improve performance and results as well as effectively retain top talent for your organization.

9:50 – 10:10am:                  Designing Effective Salary and Grading Structures in the context ofVietnam
In Vietnam these days, companies think of building a professional compensation system more seriously. Having an effective salary structure can help companies to maximize the value of their salary budget in order to attract and retain talents, to improve their internal equity and to increase their external competitiveness. A good salary structure should be built based on the values of positions and aligned with the company’s business strategy so that it can support the company’s business strategy and to prepare for its future plans.

As so many HR departments have had a freeze or cut in spending during the economic crisis, where should they prioritize spending as we move into recovery?  Now is the perfect time to revisit your HR plan and ensure that it is in line with your organization’s goals and objectives.  This is the first time that Vietnam has been affected by a global economic crisis which means it is also the first time that HR is really seen as a driving force in business. It is essential that plans are put in place now to enable recovery.
