RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee the new product launch process to ensure all launches meet speed-to-market lead time requirements.
  • Conduct new product launch reviews and take the lead on technical and design approval with all cross-functional teams. 
  • Drive innovation in materials, construction techniques, and manufacturing processes to enhance product quality and performance.
  • Manage engineering personnel in creating, establishing, and maintaining proper packing techniques and materials to ensure low cost while maintaining product quality standards.
  • Prepare Bills of Material and engineering change orders (ECO) in support of new products or continuous improvement projects
  • Periodically audit inline and new products as they are being produced in production to identify and correct problems. Verify questions regarding spec sheets, materials, and other product-related questions from production and quality personnel.
  • Establish and enforce rigorous quality control standards throughout the product development process. Conduct thorough testing and evaluation of prototypes and final products to identify and address any quality issues or manufacturing defects.
  • Work closely with manufacturing partners to ensure a seamless transition from product design to production. Provide technical support and troubleshooting expertise to resolve any engineering challenges or production issues.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising product quality or performance. Drive initiatives to improve manufacturing efficiency, reduce material waste, and optimize production processes.
  • Coordinate all communications with Ashley representatives that pertain to Engineering data to ensure accurate and clear communication of issues and countermeasures.
  • Set up department control by writing and enforcing SOPs, and ensure SOPs are understood and followed by all engineering-related staff.
  • Manage a team of engineers, providing guidance, mentorship, and technical expertise. Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment to maximize team productivity and creativity.
  • Serve as a mentor to subordinates by creating an environment characterized by a free exchange of ideas, teaching, and learning from each other.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred
  • Proven experience in product engineering, preferably in the furniture or upholstery industry
  • More than 4-year experience in the engineering field
  • Experience at the Manager level of at least 3 years. Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage and motivate a team.
  • Strong technical knowledge of upholstery materials, construction techniques, and manufacturing processes
  • Work Hands-on
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities with a keen attention to detail.
  • Very proactive and energetic.
  • Good at Written and Spoken English
  • Positive, enthusiastic, creative, embraces changes, performs under pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
