When technology supports organisational operations, it consequently begins to replace people, or in other word, jobs in organisations. As a result, the importance of human resource (HR) management will be the top priority in any business strategy for companies worldwide. Not only does it help increase efficiency, simplify and automate processes, technology is also a useful tool to gather necessary data in assessment and analysis, from which better decisions are drawn. Particularly in talent strategy and leadership capability development, technology could provide comprehensive data, transparent analysis which business leaders can rely on to determine their people strategies such as spotting and retaining talents, growing leadership team, raising the performance bar and enhancing business outcomes.

Guest speakers also pinpointed some of the key challenges for enterprises in this digital era regarding talent retention, such as the open job opportunities, flexible lifestyle as well as global workforce mobility. Creating an attractive environment to make employees think that “going to work” is less stressful has become one of the main focus that enterprises need to implement. Besides, cultural factors should be seriously taken into account whenever technology is applied to minimize institutional and cultural separation between those who design technology and those who actually use it.

According to the guest speakers, the technology era is creating both opportunities and challenges for businesses in the procesess of enhancing and managing resources:

  1. Understand clearly internal strengths and business strategies when applying technology in human resource management;
  2. Be more skillful and strategic in the course of applying technology so as to enhance working efficiency, process standardisation, internal communication, while ensuring “talent retention”.;
  3. Have a good sense of data analysis, leverage correctly and adequately the numbers and indicators to support business development strategies;
  4. Promote and take advantage of the many benefits of technology in talent and leaders assessment; which in turn, creates the opportunities for these two key target groups to uplift their skills, enhancing their technical knowledge to keep up with the ever-changing pace of the market;
  5. Prepare infrastructure that serves for assessing and analyzing the workforce more accurately and coherently while maintaining a collaborative, sharing environment.
